Aotea Roast - Shopify website development - Migration from WordPress

Subscription Based

About

Aotea Roast is a small Batch artisan coffee roastery based off the grid on Great Barrier Island (NZ’s 1st off grid roasters to be exact!).
After launching the business on WordPress and primarily serving locals and travellers to the island, owner Chris Bailey decided it was time to go bigger picture and expand to sell nation-wide in NZ.

The Brief

After a initial audit of the WordPress site, it was decided the best way forward was to migrate across to shopify. There were a number of reasons for this but the main being it’s user friendly interface (Front and back ends), speed of the site and making on-going management a lot simpler for the Aotea Roast team.

My approach here was 3 fold;

* To create a fresh looking site while incorporating the current brand elements.

* Promote the idea of subscriptions as the preferred purchase option (and practically implement this).

* Improve the functionality of the site including navigations, descriptions of products, and brand story – all being aimed at the target market with the user experience in mind.

* Make owning a website less stressful for the team.

The Result

A brand new user friendly website both for the Aotea Roast staff and customers.

We made it super easy for customers to order subscription based coffee along side 1 off purchases and for staff to navigate fulfilment and tracking orders.

Using a little help from Chat GBT, we went more in depth with telling the Aotea Roast story adding a little personality.

We were able to go live relatively quickly (Within the month) and migrate all current subscriptions over making the transition as smooth as possible.

Overall a fun project and a brand I’ve loved getting to know!
